Separation at the Top

Another week in the books and it seems as though two teams are starting to separate themselves in each conference.

In the East the New York Red Bulls are playing fantastic soccer and have opened up a 5 point lead over a trio of teams tied for second.

In the west it’s the L.A. galaxy that seem to be the class of the conference. Led by Edson Buddle, L.A. has yet to lose in five games, with 4 wins and a draw. Their 13 points are 3 better than second place Colorado.

De Rosario Player of the Week

Dwayne De Rosario of Toronto F.C. was named the player of the week in the MLS for the week of April 19th.  The Canadian international had a goal and an assist in Toronto’s 2-0 shutout of Seattle.  This is the 5th time De Rosario has been named player of the week, his first since the 2007 season.

The ten year veteran told CBS Sports after the game, “I’m ever so pleased with the way the guys came. From the first minute to the last.”

Toronto has started out with a 2-3-0 record through their first five.
